PAUL GAUGUIN
Ezhen Anri Paul Gauguin was born in Paris on June,
7th 1848. In 1865 it has joined a command of a trading
vessel and has made some long voyages. At the age of 23
years of the beginnings successful, but short-term
business career in Paris. Financial successes have
allowed Gauguin to be engaged in a collecting of
products of impressionists. Gauguin has not received a
regular art education, short of several lessons which to
it were given by impressionist Kamil Pissarro. In 1883
it has left commercial activity completely to devote
itself to painting; it has led to poverty and rupture
with a family.
In 1887 Gauguin has undertaken travel on island
Martinique; during stay there he has realised that for
creative inspiration requires a lonely life in harmony
with the nature. In 1888 it some time has spent in
Brittany. In the works executed in Brittany, contrary to
bright products of impressionists, it has concentrated
attention to the image of severe beauty of this district
and scenes from a life of peasants. In one of the most
known Breton works – Vision after the sermon (1888)
artist accents planeness of a picturesque surface that,
probably, grows out of its acquaintance to the Japanese
engraving. Gauguin's the best landscapes and a picture
the Yellow Christ (1889) too concern the Breton period
of creativity.

These years Gauguin
becomes the leader of a new direction – sintetizma
which adherents in a new fashion used colour and the
form, safely outlining objects, simplifying images,
comparing the big sites of a pure colour for
achievement of emotional effect.
